€17.000.000 Euromillions win is “an absolute roller coaster” for Irish syndicate

Emotions have been running high at the Stakelum’s Hardware Store in Thurles for almost two weeks and for a pretty good reason. The 32-strong syndicate from this company recently won a life-changing €17.000.000 Euromillions windfall and they finally came forward to collect it a few days ago.

Members of the fortunate group correctly guessed the numbers 9, 15, 22, 39 and 46, with the Lucky Stars 4 and 5 in Euromillions draw on June 5th. The syndicate consists of 32 current and former workers from Stakelum’s Hardware Store, who’ve been playing the lottery together for the last 25 years. According to the syndicate leader Gerard Sammon, they were blown away after discovering their ticket hit the jackpot.

“At first we simply couldn’t believe it. We were stunned, but we have had over a week to let the good news sink in. We couldn’t have been treated better by the team in the National Lottery who have guided us through the prize payment process and who have welcomed us here with open arms,” said Sammon

The best part of their victory is the fact it’s being shared between dozens of people. 32 families will benefit from this amazing windfall and each of the syndicate members will take around €530.000 home. They are still getting used to that fact, but majority of the winners already know what they want to do with their share.

“It has been an absolute roller coaster. We are all absolutely delighted it will make a huge difference to all of our lives. We have all been blown away by the goodwill there has been towards us from our colleagues in Stakelums, and by people in the town in general. Everybody is genuinely happy for us,” concluded Sammon.
