End of the last year was very exciting for Powerball enthusiasts around the world, when the top prize reached incredible heights, and 166 members of a syndicate from Farmington were amongst millions of people who tried to get their hands on the jackpot. They managed to scoop the $1.000.000 prize in the draw on December 23rd by matching the five main winning numbers. The winners formed the syndicate at US Tool Group’s headquarters in Farmington, where they work together and Peggy Lunsford was in charge of buying the ticket for that night’s draw.

“I’m in charge of collecting the money and who puts in $2 for each drawing. I make copies of all the tickets and check them after the drawings. When I saw the $1.000.000 win, I decided to wait and let everyone know Tuesday, at work,” said the syndicate leader.

According to Michelle Kemp, one of the winners, people were cheering all over the plant after discovering their ticket was worth $1.000.000. Even the saleslady at the store where the ticket was purchased was over the moon after hearing Jake’s Express Shop in French Village played a small part in their big victory.

“The girl that sells the tickets was so happy. She came running up to me and said, ‘I knew I would sell you a winning ticket!’ It’s exciting for everyone,” said Ms. Lunsford after collecting their cheque at the Missouri Lottery headquarters in Jefferson City a few days ago.
